About #100daysofdance

I believe to my bones that dance is a bridge, across genres, cultures, and generations. #100daysofdance (v. Cambodia) is a project designed to show that. It's a celebration of dance,  but more so, a celebration of the fact that it happens everywhere, every day, all over the world. Even in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, where I'm based, there is so much dance happening. From my work with Cambodian dancers, to Cambodian culture, to dancing in the markets, this project is a journey across worlds -- and the constant is, of course, dance.

#100daysofdance is not about going out to find dance. It's not about going out of my way to find places, or poses. It's about finding dance that is already there. Maybe it's a happy or sad moment (like Day 10), a regular rehearsal (like Day 4), or just playing in the pool (like Day 7). It could be anything, anywhere, but it's dance as it comes to me.

There are three rules:

  1. One picture per day -- and it must be taken that day (no old stock photos allowed!)
  2. The picture doesn't have to be professional quality and it doesn't have to be a full body shot, but the dance movement must be clearly visible.
  3. Each picture has to come with a short story -- what, who, where, when, etc.
Got it?

It starts today, March 17, and ends June 25. In the meantime, you can find the pictures on Instagram with the tag #100daysofdance and #100DODCambodia, and of course, here on the blog with the stories that go with.

What do you need to do?

Share it! Also, if you have questions about the pictures or the story, you'd like more information about the place or anything that's going on in the picture, feel free to ask! I'll be delighted to respond.
